Our first attempt

We used iMovie to edit and upload our video (Screen Grabs above)

We used the Sony HDR video cam for our first attempt. We managed to get on with it pretty well although we did miss out the "Pull Focus" which we will try again next time.

Using Video Cameras

Our objective today was to learn how to use the video cameras and to produce several types of shot, as listed below -:

• Pan shot from left to right
• Pan sot from right to left
• Close up shot - a tight shot of someone's face clipping off the top of the head
• A wide angle shot taken from a low viewpoint looking up
• A tilt shot from low to high
• A tilt shot from high to low
• A shot which manual focuses on a person walking away from the camera and retaining focus
• A shot which manual focuses a person walking away from the camera and retaining focus
• A "Pull Focus" shot moving from a static shot onto another static shot - ie from a branch to a person in the background

The worlds first consumer high definition camera. The Sony HDR-FX1 is a revoloution in form and function as it allows you record and play interlaced high definitions for a professional quality video with vivid colours and striking details.
It features -

• Switchable HDR/DV recording - Capable of recording and playing back in high definition and at standard definition.
• Manual Zoom - Provides detailed and precise detail on the amount of zoom and overall focus of your image.
• Picture Profile - Allows the user to manually adjust for a scene, such as colour, sharpness and white balance within a pre set so they can be called upon with a touch of a button. Also provides settings for various shooting conditions are offered as defaults.
• Assignable buttons - Three buttons on the exterior are user assignable so they can be set to the options most used for ease of recording.
• Shot Transition - Allows for smooth automatic scene transition. Settings for focus, zoom, iris, gain, shutter and white balance can attached to the A/B button and a smooth transition will take place. this function will take place at a set time. This function will enable focus to gradually shift from foreground to background or vice versa, allowing a smooth change in depth of field.

How we did it

Uploaded all our pictures to imovie and using the time of 0.4 seconds. By using Savetube.com we managed to get our song off youtube and onto our stop motion movie. We only wanted part of the song on our film, so we played around a bit to cut down some of the song by dragging the slider underneath our pictures.

Group stop motion video

For the past few weeks we have worked as a group to come up with an idea for a stop motion video. Our original idea had an autumn theme - Using the studio and the setting the camera from above and a white background, we would have a girl laying down with autumn leaves dancing around her and also having a scarf and a hat dancing around with the leaves. With some of us being away on a wednesday due to the snow we had to change our idea and at least have a small stop motion video we could show and then maybe try our bigger video in the new year.
Our next idea involved 2 of our group walking and hiding behind a tree, with their heads popping out from behind the tree. We then moved onto some steps to create a dance kind of theme.
